She went out and stood on the balcony for a few minutes, in the cool, late night air, watched the lights shimmer out over the river, the lights on the bridge that crossed over to Vidalia, the lights along the shores on both sides. The hotel was the tallest building in town, and there weren’t any other tall buildings between her and the river, so the sky was a clear, dark dome, pinpointed with stars.
